Kominka(old Japanese traditional house) Adventure offers a unique opportunity for people to connect with nature through farming experiences, enjoy watching vegetables grow, and have fresh just harvested vegetables and fresh fish just from pond for lunch. We are dedicated to providing a hands-on experience just as people did 100 years ago.
Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities with swing, zipline, catching mountain trout (amago) or hiking up Mount Byobu. You can also relax in a hammock, or watch the Taki (waterfall Juro fall) and take in the soothing atmosphere and relax for the day. Japan with 4 seasons allow only one time of the year to plant rice which is in early May. Every year rice planting is from 1st/May and must complete within few days. Have fun in the mud and enjoy planting rice.

A maple tree stands in a spot with sweeping views beside the mountain house, offering a beautiful display of autumn colors. On sunny days, you can relax beneath its branches, sipping coffee or getting lost in a good book. Take your time and enjoy the peaceful, private atmosphere.

Cutting grass
Cutting grass and trimming around rice field is very important for rice to grow. It starts from end of June to October. After sweating from cutting grass - dunking in cold water or bathing in waterfall is just so soothing and afterwards having cold icy noodle (somen) makes you feel even better.
Fire wood
Chop wood for fireplace
Chop wood for stove just like people did 100years ago. In freezing winter cold, you can warm up fast and enjoy BBQ with Wagyu on Japanese Irori stove where you can feel the authentic Japanese living from ancient days.
Raise vegetable
Have freshest vegetable for food
Enjoy planting all kinds of vegetables and eat as fresh as possible. Seasonal vegetable lunch with fresh fish from the pond should give you enjoyable moment especially after you have worked on planting vegies.
Bring in your favorite food
Irori(old-fashioned sunken hearth)
In the Kominka, there is an old-fashioned irori (sunken hearth). Enjoy a special moment that you can’t experience by cooking your favorite ingredients over a charcoal fire.

Rice planting is a once-a-year event that must be completed within a few days (May 1–5). Even after planting, there’s still plenty of work to do—like weeding and setting up fences to keep out wild boars—until the rice is ready to harvest. Going through these hands-on tasks not only teaches you how rice grows but also makes the final product taste even more delicious.
